Permanent representatives of ASEAN link hands in the traditional ASEAN way at the CPR meeting in Luang Prabang province.

Eighth ASEAN CPR to improve implementation work plan

The eighth meeting of the committee of permanent representatives to ASEAN (CPR) on Sunday focused on updating the annual work plan of the panel.
The meeting, held in Luang Prabang province, also discussed preparations for the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) and related meeting to be held in Luang Prabang during August 21-22 , ahead of the 44th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to be held in Vientiane in October.
The CPR meeting also reviewed the outcomes of the 57th Foreign Ministers and related meetings held in Vientiane during July 21-27 as part of the implementation and other tasks assigned to the committee.
In addition, the meeting discussed and reviewed progress in the work of building the ASEAN community, and relations and cooperation with countries outside ASEAN. It also considered the adoption of regional organisations related to ASEAN (ASEAN Entities).
The meeting was chaired by Laos’s Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Mr Bovonethat Douangchack.
The meeting was attended by permanent representatives to ASEAN,  a representative of Timor-Leste as an observer country and ASEAN secretariate.
