President to attend SCO Plus Meeting, Visit Kazakhstan

President Thongloun Sisoulith will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Plus Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from August 31 to September 1, before making an official visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The Lao President will lead a high-ranking Lao delegation on the official visit to Kazakhstan from September 3-4, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
President Thongloun’s scheduled attendance at the SCO Plus Meeting comes after Laos joined the organisation as a dialogue partner in July 2026, marking an important step in expanding the country’s international engagement and cooperation.
