Chinese companies donate electrically powered buses to Laos

Jiangsu Fengchuen New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd. and Lao Asia Economic Development and Investment Bloc Co., Ltd. on Monday handed over six new electrically powered minibuses worth US$300,000 to the Lao government.

The buses are valued as a clean and green form of transport because they do not emit harmful gases and so are environmentally friendly.
The handover ceremony was attended by a representative of Lao Asia Economic Development and Investment Bloc Company, Mr Ma Shui Ho Mathew; Deputy Minister and Deputy Head of the Lao Prime Minister’s Office, Assoc Prof. Dr Somkiat Phasy; Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Kongthong Phongvichit; and representatives of Vientiane and various other entities.

Also present on the occasion were senior officials from the Ministry of Public Security, Vientiane Administration Office, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Chinese company.
The buses will be used by the three recipient government bodies to assist with their work and their efficiency will be tested on the streets of Vientiane.
The use of electrically powered vehicles will serve to reduce air pollution and contribute to the government’s goal to create a healthier environment, as they are a clean and green method of transport.
It is envisaged that a factory will be built in Laos to assemble more electrically powered vehicles for use across the country.
