BYD launches Sealion 6 in Vientiane

On 13th September, 2024. Mr Marco MOK, Chief Executive Officer of MOK Co., Ltd, the official distributor and after-sales service provider of BYD in Laos, revealed that the company has launched the BYD SEALION 6 DM-i Super Hybrid, a 5-seat, 5-door large SUV.

The BYD SEALION 6 DM-i Super Hybrid comes with advanced DM-i technology, perfectly combining the strengths of electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid vehicles (HEVs) with a high-power electric motor and a gasoline engine developed specifically for Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. It can intelligently switch between electric and hybrid modes, using electric power as the main source of propulsion from the motor.
In other words, it uses pure electricity at low speeds, oil electric hybrid power at medium speeds, and pure oil at high speeds. This intelligent switching of modes is the key to BYD’s DM-I system’s energy saving. In addition, BYD’s DMI system also has an energy recovery function to charge the battery, which can further increase the driving range. This function cannot be achieved by any fuel vehicles.
Just 10 days prior to the press conference, which took place on September 3rd, we embarked on a journey from Vientiane to Pakse, the southernmost point of Laos, with our vehicles fully charged and refueled with 60 liters of gasoline.
The comprehensive test results from this journey revealed that the 6 cars driven by 6 individuals were able to cover a distance ranging from a minimum of 1077km to a maximum of 1346km, 5 individuals beyond 1200km.

The meticulous monitoring of our actual testing process was conducted by the MOIC automotive inspection department, ensuring accurate and reliable results. The evaluation showed that the BYD Sealion 6 super hybrid model can achieve an impressive average distance of 1205km on a full tank of fuel and electricity, marking a significant milestone in the history of automotive testing in Laos.
Additionally, our test also included the examination of the most popular SUV  in Laos, which could only travel a distance of slightly over 600 kilometers when filled with 70 liters of fuel.
