Businesses lend a helping hand to flood recovery efforts

Many companies are providing financial support for the thousands of people affected by flooding across the country.
Donations have been pouring in and given to Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone along with the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mrs Baykham Khattiya, who is Vice President of the National Disaster Management Committee.

Several companies made donations at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
Donors included the Chaleun Sekong Group Company Limited with 2 billion kip, while the Phongsupthavy Group donated 2 billion kip, the Phonesack Group (PSG) 2 billion kip, Vanida Mineral Exploration and Investment Company Limited 2 billion kip, AIF Company and AIDC Company 1 billion kip, and Xaiomboun Mining Development Co., Ltd. donated 1 billion kip.
Prime Minister Sonexay thanked company representatives for their generous donations, which will be distributed among communities most in need of assistance.
On behalf of the government, the premier expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all businesses stepping up to provide support and show their solidarity with their fellow citizens in this time of crisis.
The money donated is a significant contribution to efforts to overcome the enormous challenges posed by widespread flooding and landslides, Dr Sonexay said.
The donations are greatly appreciated and will be put to good use in disaster relief work and helping those whose homes and businesses have been affected, as well as restoring infrastructure, he added.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos on Sunday launched a donation campaign to help the many people whose lives have been disrupted by flooding as a result of monsoon rains and the effects of storm Yagi.
