Lao table tennis players aiming high in world youth tournament 

Lao table tennis players are still hopeful of success during competitions taking place on Friday and will go all out to win their matches in the finals of the 2nd World Table Tennis Youth Contender event, which is being played out in Vientiane.

The Lao players will take part in the boys’ and girls’ U-11 singles events and other matches on Friday.
The 2nd World Table Tennis Youth Contender tournament is taking place from September 18-21, with young players from 14 countries battling it out in tightly contested games.
The Lao Table Tennis Federation is using the international tournament to improve the skills and confidence of Lao players, who will gain useful match experience by facing tough opponents from other countries.  
After matches played on Thursday, players from Chinese Taipei claimed victory in the U-17 boys’ and girls’ singles events and the U-13 boys’ singles category.
Meanwhile, a team from the Republic of Korea raised the trophy in another age group of the girls’ singles.
The trophy presentation ceremony on Thursday was attended by the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Laos, Mr Somphou Phongsa, members of the Lao Table Tennis Federation, other officials, and representatives of the main tournament sponsor.  
Laos also hosted the 1st World Table Tennis Youth Contender in 2023.
