Lao, Belarus parties pledge to deepen bilateral cooperation

The Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Communist Party of Belarus have pledged to further strengthen and expand party-to-party relations and cooperation, with a focus on implementing their Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed earlier this year.
The commitment was made during a high-level visit by a delegation of the Communist Party of Belarus, led by First Secretary of the Central Committee Bureau, Sergei Alexandrovich Siranok, to Laos from September 21-25 at the invitation of the LPRP.
On September 22, LPRP Secretary General Mr Thongloun Sisoulith received Mr Siranok for a courtesy call.
Mr Thongloun warmly welcomed the delegation on its first visit to Laos and said the visit would strengthen relations and cooperation between the two parties.
He expressed his appreciation for the existing ties between the LPRP and its Belarusian counterpart and praised the achievements made by the Belarusian party in recent years.
Mr Siranok thanked the Lao side for the warm welcome and spoke highly of the leadership of the LPRP, with Mr Thongloun playing an important role in the country’s construction and development. He also briefed the Lao side on the Belarusian party’s activities and recent developments.
On the same day, a meeting was held between the Belarusian delegation, led by Mr Siranok, and an LPRP delegation led by Politburo member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, General Vilay Lakhamfong.
The two sides reviewed the development of party-to-party relations and cooperation, exchanged information on the situation in their respective countries and the activities of their parties, and discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and further strengthening relations and cooperation, while supporting each other in regional and global activities.
The two sides also discussed ways to deepen and expand cooperation between their parties and ensure the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation signed earlier this year.
The Belarusian delegation also visited several important historical and cultural sites in Vientiane and Luang Prabang province.
