Laos to host carbon markets, clean energy conference
Vientiane will host the Lao PDR Carbon Markets and Clean Energy Conference on September
24–25, 2025, at the Amari Hotel. The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and
Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the Australian Government through
the Global Green Growth Institute, EnergyLab Asia, and Partnerships for Infrastructure.
The two-day conference aims to provide a key platform for advancing climate action and
promoting sustainable development in Laos. It will bring together government leaders,
development partners, private sector representatives, and civil society stakeholders.
Key objectives include promoting inclusive and resilient energy transition strategies, showcasing
innovative technologies and projects, and exploring business models and investment
opportunities in clean energy and carbon trading. Participants will also have the opportunity to
connect with decision-makers and potential partners driving sustainable business growth in
Laos.
The program will feature presentations, panel discussions, trade booths, and networking
sessions.
Day 1 (September 24) will focus on scaling carbon markets, with sessions on governance
frameworks, Article 6 cooperation, and financing mechanisms.
Day 2 (September 25) will highlight clean energy deployment and investment opportunities,
with contributions from ASEAN and international experts.
Organisers say the event will serve as an important step in strengthening Laos’s role in regional
and global efforts on climate action.
