Luzhou Vocational College conducts international exchange in Laos

The China-Laos Children Education Research Centre recently announced and approved three research topics from Laos for 2024.

The three projects include “Research on the design of a local curriculum and development of resources for preschool in Laos”, “Research on vocational standards and mechanisms for access to young teachers in Laos”, and “Research on the learning and development of children aged 3-6 years in Laos”.
According to Luzhou Vocational and Technical College, the researchers for these topics hail from various institutions, scientific research organisations, and government departments in both China and Laos. This collaboration aims to enhance research in children’s education and contribute to its high-quality development in both nations.
The China-Laos Children Education Research Centre is an academic institution established jointly by Luzhou Vocational and Technical College and Laos’ Dongkhamxang Teacher Training College.
From June 16 to 18, 2024, Liang Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Luzhou Vocational and Technical College, led a delegation to Laos to engage in indepth international exchanges and cooperation with Laos’ Champassak Technical-Vocational College and Dongkhamxang Teacher Training College.
Notable attendees included the Deputy Director General of the Vocational Education Department of Laos’ Ministry of Education and Sports, Saykham Panthavong; the Deputy Director General of the Teacher Training Department,

Dr Xayapheth Chaphichith; the Director of Laos’ Dongkhamxang Teacher Training College, Siphone Vananarath; Director of Laos’ Champasak Technical-Vocational College, Bouakhay Souphaone; and the Vice Director of Dongkhamxang Teacher Training College, Bualy Thepvongsa.
On June 16, Luzhou Vocational and Technical College conducted the fourth “Chinese + Vocational Skills” vocational education teachers’ professional competence enhancement training at Dongkhamxang Teacher Training College, offering specialised training to 150 Lao participants across three modules:  reschool education, big data (computer science), and brewing (modern logistics).
On June 17, the college hosted the 2024 Research Topic Release Conference of the China-Laos Children Education Research Center, unveiling research topics for the first time to relevant institutions, scientific research organisations, and government departments in both countries.
This initiative aims to strengthen research in children’s education and foster high-quality development in this field. The topics announced are categorised into two groups, totalling 10 items, focusing on the evolution of children’s education in both China and Laos. On June 18, the delegation visited the Department of Education and Sports of Luang Prabang Province, where they were joined by the Deputy Director of the Department, Boualoy Ithyphone. Both parties expressed a desire to forge a closer cooperative relationship in the future, with a focus on talent training, scientific and technological research and development, and the introduction and application of new technologies.

The purpose of this visit was to deepen international cooperation between China and Laos in vocational education, fostering comprehensive collaboration in key areas such as major development projects, teacher training, vocational skills training, industry - education integration, teacher-student exchanges, scientific research and social services.
