Pak Beng Power Company shares China study tour outcomes
Pak Beng Power Co Ltd hosted an achievement-sharing session themed “Striving for Excellence, For a Shared Future” on October 27, which was attended by more than 20 Chinese, Lao and Thai employees of the company.
During the session, Lao employee Thilaphanh shared her experiences from a recent study tour in China, highlighting technical knowledge, management insights and cultural experiences. Her presentation provided an opportunity for employees to learn from one another and promoted cultural exchanges in the energy sector between China and Laos.
During the study tour, Ms Thilaphanh visited Yunnan, Guangxi, Beijing and other locations. She conducted on-site visits to various clean energy projects, including energy storage facilities operated by Datang, plateau wind power projects, photovoltaic power facilities and large-scale hydropower plants. She also visited digital centralised control centres and science and technology innovation platforms, and participated in technical exchanges and group briefings.
Through these activities, she gained a broader understanding of Datang’s advanced green energy technologies, smart operation and maintenance systems, and modern management practices. She also learned about Datang’s industrial and educational assistance programmes for local communities and experienced aspects of traditional Chinese culture.
As a major Chinese-invested power and energy project in Laos and a key Sino-Thai joint venture hydropower scheme, the Pak Beng Project seeks to harness Laos’ clean energy potential, strengthen energy connectivity across the Lancang-Mekong region, and supply electricity to Thailand and the wider regional energy market. With a commitment to local development, the project aims to strengthen practical cooperation between China and Laos in green energy and contribute to building a China-Laos community with a shared future.
Pak Beng Power Co Ltd said the study tour provided an opportunity for technical research, professional development and learning, while demonstrating the growing cooperation between China and Laos in the green energy sector. The company encouraged employees to learn from Datang’s advanced technologies and management practices and work together to advance project development.
Participants said they will apply the knowledge and experience gained from the study tour to their work, focus on the company’s core clean energy business, and contribute to building a “Green Pak Beng”. They also pledged to strengthen regional energy cooperation and support the development of the China-Laos community with a shared future through practical action, promoting good neighbourly relations, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation between the two countries.
