Laos. The certificate was presented on 6 November by the General Director of JETRO Vientiane, Mr Kikuchi Yasushi, to the Vice President of LDC Import-Export Co., Ltd., Ms Saysouly Chasane.
With this ceremony, 24 Jiffy branches have been certified, each offering Japanese products such as rice noodles, ramen noodles, instant foods, and seasonings from Japan.
The “Japanese Food Supporter” certification endorses stores that sell or use Japanese-made consumer products.
Established in 2016 by Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, this certification aims to promote Japanese food abroad. As of 31 October 2024, there are 5,678 certified stores across 59 countries. Certified stores display a special logo signifying their Japanese Food Supporter status.
To further promote Japanese food products, JETRO has also developed a guide to Japanese restaurants and shops in Laos, available on its website. https://www.jetro.go.jp/ext_images/_Reports/02/2024/8123c007f8214926/Japanese_Restaurants_and_Stores_in_Laos.pdf
In Laos, nine stores were certified in 2018, with another 21 certified the following year. This year, 30 stores received certification, bringing the current total of certified stores in the country to 53.
The certification is valid for two years, after which businesses must reapply to maintain their status as certified Japanese Food Supporters. For more information can visit https://www.jetro.go.jp/agriportal/supporter/
