Lao, Cambodian authorities hold talks on border affairs

Laos-Cambodia technical border committees have agreed to proceed with their agreed works to advance border demarcation between the two neighbours.
The agreement was reached at a meeting held on November 7 in Siem Reap province, Cambodia, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Phoxay Khaykhamphithoune, who is Chairman of the Laos-Cambodia Technical Border Subcommittee, headed the Lao delegation at the talks.
The meeting adopted documents related to the borderline to be surveyed, which accounts for 80 percent of the shared border. Participants also discussed an action plan to direct surveys and border demarcation.
Participating officials discussed the 2025 joint work plan and assigned technical teams from both sides to work together to define locations at which additional border markers should be installed. They also agreed to hold further discussions to address areas where there is disagreement on the location of the border.
The Lao ministry said the meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere.
