Chinese enterprises lead in investments in Laos
Enterprises and investors from China have invested more than US$15 billion in more than 900 projects in all sectors of Laos, especially energy, mining, infrastructure, services and agriculture.

This updated figure was reported at a Lao-Chinese business meeting held at Hangzhou in Zhejiang province of China on November 9. More than 100 participants from the public and business sectors of Laos and China were part of the gathering.
Lao Prime Minister, Mr Sonexay Siphandone was among the guests at the meeting and delivered a keynote speech.
The business meeting was jointly organised by the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) and the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Zhejiang), with the coordination of the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Industry and Commerce and Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR.
The Laos-China business meeting was an important platform to supplement and expand the cooperative relationship between the socio-economic sectors of the two countries, especially for the exchange of information on investment policies, investment potential, development conditions and economic infrastructure, including special economic zones, to create conditions for increasing trade and investment between the two sides.
The meeting saw both sides exchanging views on the conditions for economic development and investment opportunities in order to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors.
It was also a platform for presentations on different topics related to business ties between the two countries, to highlight the opportunities and potential for investments in Laos, and to increase practical skills for Lao and Chinese investments in all sectors.
The meeting highlighted several important sectors such as development of renewable energy, ore processing materials, logistics, electronic commerce, tourism, and environmentally friendly investments.
Three cooperation documents were signed by the business sectors at a ceremony to strengthen cooperation between Lao and Chinese businessmen.
The Prime Minister of the Lao PDR and his delegation met with the government authorities of Zhejiang province and participated in a study tour that focused on poverty alleviation and development of a number of industrial farms in the region.
