The order came as the Prime Minister and his committees visited Nongmar village, Bualapha district, Khammuan province on November 14.
In Nongmar village, the Prime Minister visited primary, upper and lower secondary schools to listen to reports on the province’s development.
The main issues raised during the visit include challenges in education, telecommunications, roads and water supply, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
After listening to the reports, the Prime Minister suggested that Khammuan provincial authorities ask the Ministry of Technology and Communications to consider installing a telecommunication network in Nongmar village that will allow people there to be better connected.
He also emphasised that Khammuan province should research and create village development plans that factor the potential and capabilities of the local area and allocate basic infrastructure and resources in line with the aim of sustainable development.
The province should continue to promote more local production efforts so that its residents have the potential to work closer to home and create more products, he added. During the visit, the Prime Minister provided education and sports equipment to schools and students in Nongmar village, as well as clothing and some funds to its residents.
On November 15, the Prime Minister and his committees also attended the grand opening of Khammouan Pipes LTD in the Thekheak specific economic zone.
It is hoped that the new pipe factory will promote domestic production, reduce import demands, and create more job opportunities for Khammuan residents while bringing in more revenue to the government and improving socio-economic development.
After the grand opening, the Prime Minister and his committees visited an agricultural development, cultivation and animal husbandry project in Yommalath district.
The 600-hectare project, already involving 1,000 cattle, is said to help boost food production for domestic use and export, reduce imports, create jobs and become a learning centre for agricultural techniques.
The project is also said to contribute to the province’s development while increasing its economic growth.
