Japanese entrepreneur backs development to transform central Laos

Several projects initiated by a Japanese entrepreneur are set to bring significant changes to Savannakhet province in central Laos.
Mr Yoshinari Shundo, the owner of Savan Resort, has grand plans for the region. He has embarked on numerous development projects. Among them are the construction of a playground, a golf course covering more than 30 hectares, a children’s water park, a commercial and cultural plaza, large public swimming pools, hot springs, banquet halls, and real estate developments.

Mr Yoshinari Shundo’s ambitious plans for Savan Resort.

The majority of these projects are slated for completion in 2025.
In an interview with Vientiane Times on Tuesday, Mr Shundo  said he chose this location for his projects because Savannakhet is close to Vietnam and Thailand, and this gives the region great potential for future development. Moreover, the area is rich in natural beauty.
These new developments are expected to have far-reaching effects. They will enhance the resort’s attractiveness to international tourists, providing them with more diverse and luxurious experiences.
At the same time, they will offer local people improved leisure and entertainment facilities, thus strengthening the local tourism market.
The golf course, in particular, may present local youth with opportunities to learn the sport. This could foster the growth of golf among the younger generation in the region.
The Savan Resort, located adjacent to the Savan Seno Special Economic Zone in Kaysone Phomvihane city, recently achieved a five-star rating. It comprises three buildings with a total of 438 rooms, and offers a wide array of services, including bars, restaurants, a gym, and a spa.
The resort currently employs around 1,000 workers, with a significant number being local residents.
As the projects progress, more jobs will likely be created, potentially drawing local people working abroad back to their homeland.
Overall, these developments are poised to have a positive impact on the local community and economy, and will further elevate the status of the Savan Resort as a premier tourist destination.
