Vietnam’s top leader wishes Laos on National Day via online video
The Party Secretary General and state President, Mr Thongloun Sisoulith, held talks via video conference on Sunday with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr To Lam, who extended best wishes to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic on the 49th anniversary of its founding, which is observed on December 2.

General Secretary To Lam highly valued the achievements that the Party, state and people of Laos have made over almost five decades, according to the Lao News Agency.
The Vietnamese leader expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao people would gain greater achievements in the years to come.
Secretary General Thongloun expressed heartfelt thanks for his Vietnamese counterpart’s best wishes.
The Lao leader hailed the time-honoured friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. He said his latest interaction with General Secretary To Lam reflected the fact that Laos-Vietnam relations have always been lively.
Mr Thongloun congratulated the Party, state and people of Vietnam for their achievements over the years, which have enabled Vietnam to enjoy firm political stability, steady high-level economic growth, and elevated the country’s profile in the regional and international arena.
He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the brotherly Vietnamese people would have greater achievements in the years to come.
Both leaders exchanged views on ways to further cement relations between the two neighbouring countries, which fought shoulder to shoulder for their liberation.
They briefed each other about the latest developments in their respective parties and countries. They highly valued the fruitful cooperation between the two countries, which span a wide range of areas such as politics, national security and defence, economy, trade and investment.
Leaders and delegations at all levels of the two countries have maintained regular contacts and exchanges of visits to share lesson learnt and best practices.
The two leaders agreed to work together to push the relevant bodies of Laos and Vietnam to implement cooperation agreements reached by leaders of the two nations to bolster ties for mutual benefits.
