China United Airlines starts direct flights to Vientiane

China United Airlines began operating direct flights from Daxing International Airport in Beijing, to Wattay International Airport in Vientiane on December 10, in response to growing demand for travel to Laos.

The airline is operating four flights a week departing from Daxing International Airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:45am local time and arriving at Wattay International Airport at 13:20.
Return flights depart from Vientiane at 14:20pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Daxing at 19:45pm, according to the China Media Group FM93.
In another air transport link with China, Lao Airlines began direct flights between Pakxe and Guangzhou last month.
Lao Airlines has also resumed flights between Luang Prabang and Changsha in China.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Airlines has begun weekly flights to Laos to meet increasing travel demand and strengthen the regional air transport network.
These new flights will increase the number of tourists coming to Laos, especially from southern China. The number of Chinese tourists visiting Laos has increased significantly this year and last compared to past years.
More than 1.1 million foreign tourists visited Laos in the first three months of this year, an increase of 36 percent compared to the figure for the same period in 2023, according to the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
Statistics compiled by the ministry’s Tourism Marketing Department indicate that 242,404 visitors came from China.
