Korea, Laos friendship groups pledge stronger cooperation in 2025
The Korea-Laos Friendship Association (KLFA) and the Laos-Korea Friendship Association (LKFA) have pledged to strengthen ties and enhance collaboration to promote mutual understanding and solidarity between the two nations.
The commitment was formalised during a signing ceremony on December 16 in Vientiane at the 13th annual meeting of the associations.
The event was attended by the President of the KLFA, Mr Oh Myung Hwan, and the President of the LKFA, Mr Khamsuay Keodalavong. Also present were the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, Mr Jung Yung Soo, and other representatives from both sides.
The meeting highlighted the achievements of their collaboration over the past year, focusing on contributions to development in Laos, particularly in education, public health, agriculture, and human resources.
Key initiatives included building schools and donating medical supplies, clothing, and educational equipment to underserved communities.
Both sides discussed plans for 2025, including joint activities to further deepen cooperation. The meeting underscored the importance of people-to-people exchanges to build trust and peace while advancing the partnership between the two countries.
Six members of the KLFA were awarded the Friendship Medal by the Lao government in recognition of their contributions to raising funds and promoting development projects in Laos.
They thanked the Lao government and both friendship associations for the honour and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
The Lao government also presented the KLFA with the Friendship Medal for its outstanding efforts in improving educational, health, and humanitarian infrastructure in Laos.
These contributions are seen as vital to strengthening the friendly relations between Laos and South Korea.
The associations reiterated their shared goal of fostering closer ties between the two nations and contributing to peace and development.
