KOFIH strengthens medical equipment management in Laos
Collaborative efforts to enhance healthcare delivery through improved medical equipment management in Laos topped the agenda at a workshop to summarise field surveys under the second phase of a health promotion project funded by Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH).

The workshop to discuss the project, titled "Strengthening Management System and Training of Medical Equipment in Laos", took place in Vientiane on December 18.
The event brought together key stakeholders committed to improving healthcare in Laos.
The session was led by the Director of the Medical Product Supply Centre, Dr Many Thammavong, along with Country Representative, Ms Hyunkong Kim, and Health Specialist at the KOFIH Laos Office, Seunghee Seo.
Participants came from various ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Planning and Investment, as well as from departments of the Ministry of Health including the Cabinet Office, Food and Drug Department, and Healthcare and Rehabilitation Department.
Officials also came from the provinces of Phongsaly, Oudomxay, Huaphan, Bokeo, Xieng Khuang, Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Champassak and Attapeu, underscoring the collaborative effort to improve the management of medical equipment across the country.
The primary focus of the workshop was to provide insights from the recent project formulation study for the second phase of the initiative.
Conducted by the Medical Product Supply Centre, the Korean consulting team, and KOFIH, the project addresses challenges in healthcare delivery and is working to improve the efficiency of medical equipment management in the targeted provinces.
Participants engaged in meaningful discussions about the study's findings, emphasising the importance of effective medical equipment management systems.
Provincial representatives shared their experiences and highlighted both successful strategies and areas in need of improvement, fostering a unified response to healthcare challenges.
