NTPC, 41 suppliers commit to Ethics and Compliance Charter in Laos

Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) recently organised events for the signing of an Ethics and Compliance Charter with 41 supplier companies, reinforcing a shared commitment to integrity and responsible business practices.
The first signing ceremony took place at the Crowne Plaza in Vientiane on December 9, when NTPC Chief Executive Officer Marc-Antoine Rupp joined representatives of 33 supplier companies.

A second event was held at NTPC’s site office in Yommalath district of Khammuan province on December 18, bringing together eight supplier companies working in the field into the initiative.
The Charter is a joint commitment between NTPC and its suppliers to uphold shared ethical values in all business activities. It defines mutual pledges to conduct business with transparency, fairness and respect.
“This Charter is a celebration of the common values we share with our suppliers,” said Mr Rupp. “It reinforces our commitment to work responsibly and to build long-term partnerships based on trust.”
A key feature of the Charter is a secure and confidential whistleblowing system, allowing any partner or employee to safely report concerns through dedicated software. The mechanism protects the identity of whistleblowers and ensures high confidentiality throughout the reporting and review process.
“The goal is simple: Everyone must be able to speak up without fear,” Mr Rupp added.
“Ethics are not just rules, they are everyday decisions that shape who we are as a company and how we contribute to development in Laos.”
Under the Charter, NTPC pledges equal treatment of all suppliers, clear procedures, and transparent responses to concerns. Suppliers pledge honest conduct, strict respect of contractual obligations, and active support for ethical reporting.
This initiative strengthens trust across the supply chain and reflects NTPC’s long-term commitment to integrity, responsible business practices and the advancement of ethical standards in Laos.
