Laos, China chart roadmap for digital, green, connectivity development
A symposium titled “China in the New Spring” has set out an ambitious roadmap for deepening Laos-China cooperation, with both sides pledging to expand collaboration in digital innovation, green development and regional connectivity.
The meeting, held in Vientiane, marked the start of a new chapter in building a Laos–China community with a shared future, bringing together senior officials, media leaders, and policymakers from both countries.

Deputy Minister of the Central Propaganda Department and Director of the China Media Group (CMG), Mr Shen Haixiong, said the meeting adopted several important documents such as the 15th five-year Socio-Economic Development Plan and others, noting that China’s high-quality development plan has opened up new opportunities for the world.
The China Media Group is willing to enhance its potential in the international media world, relying on a global communication networks that use 85 foreign languages and have 192 overseas offices, employing the CGTN media hub to build a solid platform for news reporting.
This would also deepen the integration of culture and science and technology, conduct studies on 5G, 6G and high-definition signals, and artificial intelligence, and carry out cultural exchanges that connect people's hearts and daily lives.
Also speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Ms Fang Hong, said China is willing to increase exchanges with Laos on poverty alleviation, rural revitalisation, and other areas, and will allocate more resources to improve the livelihoods of people living in the countryside.
She said China is committed to the development of economic globalisation, noting that the Laos-China Railway is helping Laos transform from being merely landlocked to a land-connected country.
China will encourage more Chinese businesses to invest in Laos and expand cooperation in the digital economy and clean energy sectors, she added.
Representing the Lao government, Mr Daosavanh Khueamixay said China has transformed from quantitative growth to high-quality development, becoming an important driver of global economic growth, adding that Laos-China relations remain long-standing and stable.
He noted that major cooperation projects such as the Laos-China railway and the expressway have transformed Laos’ development, turning the country into an important regional connectivity hub.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to forging new areas of cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital economy, green development and people-to-people links.
Delegates from both countries discussed transport links, green energy, livelihood improvement, and digital cooperation, concluding that development must be people-centred, open, and mutually beneficial.
