Lao consumers enjoy taste of Indonesian products
Indonesian products were on display and in high demand at the Indonesian Corner event in Vientiane, which showcased some of the country’s most popular items and further strengthened the growing ties between Indonesia and Laos.
The event, held at the Parkson shopping mall on March 21-22, drew strong public interest.
Supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Vientiane, it aimed to introduce a wide range of Indonesian consumer goods to the Lao market while promoting the country’s creative industries.

Speaking to the Vientiane Times on Saturday, the founder and CEO of Champa Market and Champa Nusantara Trading, Ms Phanlany Khamphoui, said the initiative aimed to bring high-quality Indonesian products to Lao consumers.
“We intend to select several outstanding Indonesian products, including Indonesian tea, Indomie and other goods, to introduce them to the Lao market,” she said.
She noted that many Indonesian products are globally recognised, and highlighted Indomie as a flagship item due to its authentic origin and distinctive taste.
The Indonesian Corner is a dedicated platform for promoting Indonesian goods directly within the Lao market. By placing products in supermarkets and minimarkets across Vientiane, the initiative enables wider consumer access while allowing organisers to gather feedback and better understand local demand.
The project is a collaborative effort involving the Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) through the Indonesia-Laos Bilateral Commission and the Young Entrepreneur Association of Laos (YEAL) since 2023.
As part of this partnership, YEAL has appointed the Champa Market as its local representative to manage and promote the Indonesian Corner.
A diverse range of products were featured at the events, such as instant noodles and cup noodles; drinks such as fruit juice and tea; yogurt; cooking spices such as seasoned flour and coconut milk powder; and home and personal care products such as multipurpose laundry soap, bath soap, dish soap, and mosquito repellent lotion.
The event attracted a broad audience, including local residents, expatriates and members of the diplomatic community, reflecting growing interest in Indonesian products and culture in Laos.

The successful promotion of Indonesian products in Laos through the Indonesian Corner marks another milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Laos, and is expected to open further opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the economic sector.
Indonesian Corner products are currently available at several retail outlets in Vientiane, including Xokthavy, Soksay Mart, Kok Kok, J-Mart, D-Mart, View Mall, Big C, Vansom Wine Shop, Parkson, VG Mart, Friendship Mall, and Saysa-ath Pharmacy, as well as through delivery platforms such as Foodpanda and E-gets.
