Rail operator sets holiday rules for traffic at Vientiane station
The Laos-China Railway Company has issued regulations regarding vehicle parking and passenger drop-off at Vientiane station during the Lao New Year holiday period, to ensure orderly traffic flow.

The Laos-China Railway Station Management and Administration Company has instructed all passenger transport vehicles to pick up passengers only at designated areas, and not to block exits, other vehicles and roads in the station area.
Government vehicles are instructed to submit official travel information to the Laos-China Railway Company Limited and the Station Management Company in advance, so that travel can take place on time and in line with traffic orders. Such vehicles should not use the general passenger area, but use a special gate card and the Laos-China Railway Station Management and Control Company will provide assistance.
Tour company vehicles are instructed not to use the general passenger parking lot but should line up to enter the waiting area according to the train arrival time. Do not park for a long time ahead of the train’s expected arrival and follow the instructions of Laos-China Railway Station Management and Administration Company staff.
Private vehicles are instructed to follow the rules for entering and exiting train stations. Do not park for more than two hours, do not park illegally, do not drive in the wrong lane, and do not park for a long time.
The Laos-China Railway Station Management and Administration Unit has set up five mobile teams to monitor traffic flow during the rush hours from 7-9am and 7-9pm. If there is an emergency, special control measures will be implemented.
Members of the public and private and government entities are requested to strictly comply with these regulations.
The Laos-China Railway Station Management and Administration Unit will take action against vehicles that use emergency exits, park in places other than designated parking areas, go through toll booths illegally, make sudden U-turns, park overnight illegally, or park within 30 metres of a bend or near a sidewalk.
Infringements will be reported to the Laos-China Railway Company, which will compile a list of offending licence plates and individuals who must report to the Public Security Police Office.
All drivers are requested to follow the traffic rules and signs and instructions from station staff.
Compliance with these instructions will ensure a safe, comfortable and orderly experience at this busy time of the year.
