Two ministers replaced amid changing circumstances

The Minister of Planning and Investment and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry were replaced on Monday, with the government saying it is normal practice to make changes in line with new circumstances and work requirements.
Former Secretary General of the National Assembly, Associate Prof. Dr Linkham Duangsavanh, has replaced Dr Phet Phomphiphak as the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
Dr Phet takes up a new post as Minister of Planning and Investment, replacing Mr Khamjane Vongphosy, who has been assigned to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Presiding over the position handover ceremony at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, who is also a Politburo member, said leadership changes in the Party, government and mass organisations are normal practice among Party personnel.
The changes match new circumstances and take into account the particular competencies of individual ministers in relation to their work requirements.
