Temperature drops by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius across Laos
A cold air mass that is still covering all parts of Laos and a northeasterly wind will make temperatures drop by 2°C to 4°C, resulting in very cool weather in the northern, central and plateau areas during February 8-11.
The Meteorology and Hydrology Department has forecast that Xieng Khuang, Huaphan, Phongsaly, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury and Phongsaly provinces can expect rains along with occasional strong winds and showers during this period. The lower temperatures will range between 5°C and 13°C.
Cool weather and wind gusts are also forecast for Xaysoumboun, Borikhamxay, Khammuan and Savannakhet provinces and the plateau areas, where the lower temperatures will range between 13°C and 18°C.
Vientiane will experience cool weather and occasional wind gusts. The lower temperatures will range between 14°C and 17°C.
In the south, the lower temperatures will range between 14°C and 18°C in Champassak, Attapeu and Xekong provinces, along with occasional wind gusts.
Everyone is advised to track weather forecasts and be prepared for temperature extremes, especially the people living in the mountainous and plateau regions. They should check reports in newspapers and on radio and television, or the Meteorology and Hydrology Department’s Facebook page, the Department said.
