Logistics and E-commerce lead Unitel in expanding its technology ecosystem to support the Lao digital economy

After 1 year of operation, Unitel Logistics has expanded its network to cover 18 provinces and Vientiane Capital, with nearly 1,000 service points to support door-to-door delivery. Building on this practical operational foundation, Unitel continues to broaden the scope of its logistics services and map out the development direction for e-commerce, contributing to trade integration and driving the digital economy in the Lao PDR.

From a Logistics network to nationwide connectivity
In the digital economy era, online transactions are truly complete only when goods are transported and successfully delivered to the recipient. Therefore, logistics is not merely a transport process, but a key link connecting sellers, buyers, and commercial activities together.
To meet this demand, Unitel developed Unitel Logistics - a parcel logistics and delivery service operating within the company’s digital technology ecosystem. From its initial steps in late 2025, after 1 year of operation, Unitel Logistics has expanded its network to cover 18 provinces and the capital, with nearly 1,000 service points, including Unitel stores and franchised agents.

The operational system is supported by 3 operational centers, 16 provincial transit warehouses, and a fleet of vehicles comprising modern trucks and tuk-tuks, gradually creating a nationwide goods transport network. This network not only expands service accessibility but also brings parcel drop-off and delivery activities closer to the public, including those in remote areas away from urban centers.

In terms of business performance, in its first year of operation, Unitel Logistics recorded revenue that exceeded planned targets. Notably, it takes pride in achieving a successful delivery rate of over 90%, confirming service quality and efficient operational capability. This achievement marks a significant step in expanding the market, improving customer experience, and gradually affirming the role and position of Unitel Logistics in the transport and delivery sector in the Lao PDR.

Leveraging technology to enhance parcel delivery and receipt experience

In addition to infrastructure expansion, Unitel Logistics is steadily developing its services and technological tools to meet the needs of individual customers, household businesses, and corporate sectors-especially online merchants. Convenient services include Door-to-Door delivery, Cash on Delivery (COD), automated notifications (Auto Call), and the Unitel Logistics application, which simplifies sending, receiving, and tracking parcel status for customers. Furthermore, integration with platforms such as uMoney and Pancake supports payment processing, order management, and business operations.

By integrating its service network with digital tools, Unitel Logistics strives to streamline complex delivery steps, enhance coordination among involved parties, and enable online sellers to scale up their businesses. This also establishes a foundation for logistics services to better respond to growing commercial demands in the Lao PDR. In particular, the network of stores and agents serves not only as drop-off and return points for parcels, but also as a bridge bringing services closer to local communities. Building a network by combining transport infrastructure, service points, and technology allows Unitel to progressively develop logistics capabilities suited to local market conditions.

From Logistics to E-Commerce: Expanding the Digital economy ecosystem

Logistics is one of the sectors currently operating within Unitel's ecosystem, while e-commerce represents the next development phase to strengthen the link between online trading and product distribution. Within the digital technology ecosystem, each component supports the others: telecommunications infrastructure forms the connectivity foundation; digital service platforms allow users to access various conveniences; uMoney develops electronic payment models; and logistics handles transport and delivery. When these capabilities are effectively integrated, technology can support every stage of commerce—from service access and payment processing to transport and parcel delivery. This serves as the basis for Unitel to study and expand new service models, helping enterprises and household businesses apply technology to their commercial operations. This direction also reflects the transformation process from a telecommunications provider (Telco) into a digital technology enterprise (Techco). Beyond providing connectivity infrastructure, Unitel is gradually expanding into services and solutions that participate directly in economic activities.

Connecting commerce, driving the Lao digital economy forward

After 1 year of operation, Unitel Logistics has built a nationwide service network, expanded parcel delivery services, and achieved satisfying business performance. This serves as an important foundation for the company to continue raising operational quality, expanding its network, and enhancing customer experience.

At Lao Digital Week 2026, Unitel showcased various technology sectors within its digital ecosystem, including logistics services and e-commerce development strategies. By presenting solutions that integrate technology with real-world commercial activities, Unitel aims to help the public access services more conveniently, create favorable conditions for businesses to expand, and contribute to driving product circulation within the Lao PDR. From telecommunications infrastructure to logistics and digital services, Unitel continues to expand its role in the digital economy, moving toward building a technology ecosystem aligned with actual market demands and the sustainable development of the Lao PDR.
