Mazda GB sets sights on Lao League 1 trophy


Mazda GB FC has declared its intention to lift the trophy in the Pepsi Lao League 1 2026-27 season after unveiling its squad at club’s offices in Vientiane.
The club’s President, Mr Thipphanet Keomanivong, was present on the occasion along with management staff, sponsor representatives, coaches, players and the media.

Mr Thipphanet said the club’s main objective was put up a strong challenge for the Lao League 1 championship title.
Although this was an ambitious target he said, the players were determined to make history for the club as well as raise the standard of Lao football.
Mazda GB have strengthened their squad for the new campaign by recruiting seven Japanese players, along with several promising Lao players from Young Elephants FC. The new players include Kidaovone Souvanny, Kittisak Phomvongsa, Phoutdaovy Phommasane and goalkeeper Solasak Thilavong.

Mazda GB will play their home matches at the National Stadium in Vientiane. In their first away game, they will play Savannakhet FC at the Savannakhet provincial stadium at 3:30pm on October 10.
The club placed third in last year’s League 1 tournament, with Young Elephants coming second and Ezra claiming the championship title after a close fought battle.
Mazda GB have also enjoyed success at the youth level. Their boys’ under-12 side made history by becoming the first Lao club to win the Junior Soccer World Challenge 2026 in Japan.
The club’s boys’ under-19 team finished runners-up in the 2026 Lao Football Federation Cup.
As well as unveiling the new squad, Mazda GB FC signed sponsorship agreements with Papon Sport Wear, Nixon Group, Vari Drinking Water, 895 Studio, VIP Fitness and NarlabsAsia.
The event also featured the unveiling of the new 2027 Mazda CX-5, a hybrid 2.5-litre car with many newly designed features.
