In a significant step aimed at deepening bilateral ties and bolstering efforts for socio-economic development and poverty reduction, a high-level delegation from the Policy Bank, better known as the Nayobay Bank (NBB), undertook a productive visit to Vietnam last month. The Lao delegation, led by the bank’s Director General, Mr Souphak Thinxayphone, held in-depth discussions with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, a key institution in the neighbouring country’s social policy framework. Mr Souphak stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two banks as a vital element in consolidating the special friendship between the two countries and fostering sustainable development in Laos and Vietnam. Nayobay Bank and the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies play pivotal roles in their respective countries by implementing the governments’ social policies and ensuring that even the most disadvantaged communities have access to essential financial services. |

The Deputy Director of the Rural Development Department, Ms Veomany Thepphavong, and the Head of the Lao-Korea Development and Training Centre, Mr Lienchay Bounmanyvanh, co-chaired the closing ceremony of a training course on project management for rural income generation in northern and central Laos, which was held recently in Vientiane. The course was aimed at strengthening the capacity of local officers and village leaders to implement action plans effectively and efficiently, with many project activities in villages, districts and provinces already achieving 100 percent completion. |

Luang Prabang province’s Agriculture and Forestry Department on Wednesday holds a meeting to summarise the work of the Lao Bear Conservation Project and the province’s wildlife conservation centre over the first six months of this year, and outline the plan of work for the remainder of 2025. The meeting was attended by Luang Prabang provincial officials and associated individuals. The bear conservation centre is located in Thapaen village and the wildlife conservation centre is in Nongtok village in the provincial capital, with funding provided by Australia’s Free the Bears organisation. --Photo Lao National Radio |
