With over 60 percent of Laos’ population under the age of 30, there is a unique opportunity to channel its entrepreneurial energy and creativity. The EU Delegation is committed to providing a stage for young photographers, artists, and cultural practitioners to engage with each other, share their work, and develop new ideas.
The competition received an overwhelming response, with more than 150 entries pouring in from young people across the country.
The diverse range of submissions reflects the vibrant and dynamic spirit of Laos’ young entrepreneurs. Through this initiative, the EU Delegation aimed to inspire and empower young people in Laos to not only develop sustainable green businesses but also create cultural spaces to promote their creativity.
To ensure fairness in the judging process, a distinguished panel of judges was assembled.
The panel included the EU Ambassador to Laos Ina Marčiulionytė; the Curator and Founder of the Mekong Art Initiative, Mrs Misouda Heuangsoukkhoun; the General Manager of Lab de Line Architecture, Mr Phoutthaluck Sengphouthay; and two photographers, Mr Pongpat Sensouphone and Mr Kem Chanthaseng, who brought their invaluable insights and expertise to select the winning entries. Their involvement added an important dimension to the competition, offering participants the opportunity to be recognised by esteemed professionals.
Ambassador Marčiulionytė said “Recognising the vital role of young people in implementing the 2023 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the competition aims to highlight their remarkable contributions to economic growth and the development of innovative green business.”
