Attendees came from the provinces of Xieng Khuang, Vientiane and Borikhamxay. The course took place at the Laos-Korea Rural Development Training Centre from January 7-12, supported by the government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS). The course taught participants about health care and nutrition, the processing of crops, community-based development planning, micro-finance, gender equality, and the establishment of agriculture groups and cooperatives. Mr Vongsavhanh said the course strengthened the rural development project and that participants were female leaders from target villages. The trainings were attended by 61 students from the Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry Resources, Economics and Tourism, Engineering, and Linguistics. Students attended lectures by specialists such as agribusiness operators. The Incubating Young Agripreneurs programme aims to build capacity in the field of commercial agriculture to help participants transition from subsistence farming to income-generating agribusiness. Key components include identifying market demand for agricultural products, developing farm-to-table products, and launching agribusiness ventures. The programme began in January 2023 and will run until 2025, supported by the Korean NGO Wonders International, in collaboration with the Laos-Korea Business Incubating Centre, Souphanouvong University, and the Viengkham District Agriculture and Forestry Office. |
