Agricultural Promotion Bank, Laos-China Railway launch train ticket purchase via Mepom app

The Agricultural Promotion Bank Co., Ltd. and Laos-China Railway Company Limited on April 28 signed a contract on train ticket payment using the bank’s online app Mepom, with the aim of making ticket purchase easier for passengers.

Those attending the ceremony included former Deputy Prime Minister Mr Somsavat Lengsavad; Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), Mrs Khankeo Lamaningao; Chairman of the Executive Board of the Agricultural Promotion Bank, Mr Phongsavath Senaphuan; Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural Promotion Bank, Mr  Philavanh Sophabmixay; General Manager of Laos-China Railway Company Limited (LCR), Mr Liu Hong; Executive Vice General Manager of LCR, Mr Daochinda Sihalath; and other representatives of the two companies.
The partnership will enable the customers of both companies to buy train tickets through the Mepom app in a modern, convenient, quick and time-saving manner. This will be achieved by linking payment systems between the LCR Ticket app and the Mepom app.
The new app will enable passengers to buy train tickets online more easily and reduce the congestion caused by waiting to buy tickets at service counters.
The system will be a boost to the tourism sector by streamlining ticket purchase for both Lao and foreign travellers. It is also in keeping with the 5.0 era and the government’s plan to digitalise as many transactions as possible.
