Vice President attends funeral of former Vietnamese President
Vice President, Mrs Pany Yathotou led a Lao delegation to attend the funeral of former Politburo member and former State President Tran Duc Luong in Hanoi.
On Sunday, the Lao leader and her delegation, representing the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly, the government, and the Lao Front for National Development, attended a memorial service in the national mourning etiquette.
After attending the memorial service, Mrs Pany and her entourage called on Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.
Mrs Pany conveyed the deepest condolences and sorrow of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government and the Lao Front for National Development, as well as that of Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith, on the passing of Mr Tran Duc Luong.
President Luong Cuong represented the Party, National Assembly, Government and the Fatherland Front of Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese people.
The family of Mr Tran Duc Luong expressed heartfelt thanks to the Party, National Assembly, Government and the Lao Front for National Development for appointing the high-level delegation led by Vice President Pany Yathotou to lay wreaths and attend the national mourning ceremony, as well as to share in this sorrow.
This reflected the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
