Officials from Xiengkhouang province’s Agriculture and Environment Department, irrigation management committee and other sectors on Wednesday inspect the repair and constructing of irrigation channels in three villages. Business operators from Laos and China meet in Vientiane on Wednesday to share experiences, explore new opportunities, and strengthen shared industry and trade. Business leaders in Yunnan province are interested in expanding market reach in Laos and are working with Lao counterparts to bolster industry and trade links.Chinese companies are keen to grow their market in several areas, including the sale of agricultural machinery and equipment, renewable energy such as solar power and energy storage systems, e-commerce, and tourism.

Director of the Asia Division at GIZ, Mr Marcus Lange, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, NDRCC, Ms Sun Yanna, and participants attend a 3-day course under the Triangular Cooperation Pilot on disaster risk reduction training on water rescue and climate resilience. The training programme involves Lao stakeholders from government agencies including the Mekong River Commission, administrative bodies and frontline rescue units. Participants are learning how to carry out rescue operations efficiently during times of flooding, so they can better assist local communities in emergency situations.

Held in Vientiane with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the five-day course brought together women leaders from Xiengkhouang, Bolikhamxay and Vientiane provinces. Participants learned about Korean agricultural techniques, marketing strategies, and visited successful farms to gain practical insights.
