Business operators from Laos and China meet in Vientiane on Wednesday to share experiences, explore new opportunities, and strengthen shared industry and trade. Business leaders in Yunnan province are interested in expanding market reach in Laos and are working with Lao counterparts to bolster industry and trade links.Chinese companies are keen to grow their market in several areas, including the sale of agricultural machinery and equipment, renewable energy such as solar power and energy storage systems, e-commerce, and tourism.

Director of the Asia Division at GIZ, Mr Marcus Lange, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department, NDRCC, Ms Sun Yanna, and participants attend a 3-day course under the Triangular Cooperation Pilot on disaster risk reduction training on water rescue and climate resilience. The training programme involves Lao stakeholders from government agencies including the Mekong River Commission, administrative bodies and frontline rescue units. Participants are learning how to carry out rescue operations efficiently during times of flooding, so they can better assist local communities in emergency situations.
