Former Deputy Director and Level I Bureau Rank Official at the International Exchange and Cooperation Department of China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Zhang Xilong, on Wednesday visits Laos’ Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Mrs Darany Phommavongsa. Mr Zhang Xilong is in Laos to attend a meeting taking place from July 2-7 to promote Lao-Chinese tourism and culture. He expressed gratitude for the 13-year comprehensive and stable strategic partnership and the creation of a Laos-China socialist partnership. Mrs Darany said the Lao government attaches great importance to tourism and is expanding international links by advertising Laos’ tourist attractions, especially during Visit Laos Year 2024, targeted at tourists and investors in China and other countries. The government hopes that 1.5 million Chinese nationals will visit Laos this year. |
The UNESCO-UNITWIN ICT and Leadership Workshop for female students took place from June 24-28 at Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang province. It was organised by Souphanouvong University and the Asia-Pacific Women’s Information Network Centre of the Sookmyung Women’s University in the Republic of Korea and supported by Korea’s Ministry of Education. The workshop was attended by 60 participants from six faculties, who learnt about the importance of using ICT applications and leadership skills to prepare for a successful future. The Vice President of Souphanouvong University, Assoc. Prof. Dr Vongphasith Chanthakhoun, thanked Soukmyung University for their support, saying that entrepreneurship in the age of digital transformation and gender equality were topics worthy of discussion and provided useful lessons for participating students. |
