The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has successfully concluded the final phase of its global training programme titled “Capacity Building on Identification of Forensic Documents for Safe Border Management in Laos (2023-2025)”, which took place in the Republic of Korea from July 6-19 and involved 15 officials from the Ministry of Public Security. The training programme is part of KOICA’s three-year initiative to strengthen border security and immigration fairness in Laos. It aims to enhance the capacity of Lao authorities in forensic document examination and to support the formulation of future immigration and integration policies based on international migration trends. The training was conducted by the Institute of Justice, an expert institution under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea. Through this programme, KOICA, under its Global Fellowship Programme CIAT (Capacity Improvement & Advancement for Tomorrow), continues to strengthen the capacity of Lao government officials. The successful completion of this final phase not only marks a key milestone, but also lays the groundwork for continued cooperation to enhance border governance in Laos.
