With a background in film and journalism, Australia Awards alumna Ms Vannaphone Sitthirath uses her communications skills to raise awareness of sexual harassment among high school students. Supported by an Australia-funded Alumni Innovation Grant, Vannaphone is leading the “Stopping Sexual Harassment in School in Laos” initiative in 10 Vientiane schools. The scheme is taking place in partnership with the Vientiane Women's Union to train teachers and conduct workshops with students. Students register for the entrance exam at the National University of Laos. So far, more than 5,000 people have registered for the exams, hoping to gain a place at the university in the 2025-2026 academic year, where 5,670 students will be accepted for bachelor degree programmes.
