Action Education, Oudomxay province forge partnership to boost early childhood learning
Action Education and Oudomxay province’s Department of Education and Sports have joined hands to expand opportunities and strengthen resources for children’s education under a new project launched on Friday.
Both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 15 to roll out the Facilitation Opportunities and Resources for Children’s Education (FORCE) project, which aims to improve the quality of early childhood and primary education.
The ceremony for signing the MoU was held at the provincial Education and Sports Department and was attended by more than 50 participants, including officials from the Departments of International Cooperation and Early Childhood Education of the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Department of International Organisations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and district and provincial offices.
The project is designed to enhance the quality of education for 38 schools across the two districts of Xay and Nga. This collaboration seeks to strengthen communities, administrators, teachers and local authorities, encouraging them to work together to improve access to quality education and create sustainable educational opportunities for all children, especially those from disadvantaged communities.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Education and Sports, Ms Viengkham Manisay, said: “I am highly confident that the collaboration between the Oudomxay provincial Department of Education and Sports and Action Education for implementing this project in Xay and Nga districts will be a strategic partnership between our two institutions.
“It will enhance access to quality education, provide professional development for teachers and school administrators, and promote community participation in the joint development of early childhood and primary education. Through all these efforts, we will be able to achieve the project’s goals that I have mentioned.”
Country Director of Action Education in Laos, Sengthong Phothisane stated: “The FORCE project is a product of close collaboration between Action Education and the Department of Education and Sports of Oudomxay, grounded in local realities and sectoral priorities.”
“We are confident that this initiative will strengthen foundational learning outcomes by enhancing both access and quality in Early Childhood and Primary Education across the targeted districts.”
