In collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and Oxfam, Australia is supporting inclusive disaster risk management and climate change adaptation efforts, empowering local communities to better prepare for and respond to climate-related hazards. The Strengthening Climate Resilience programme is bolstering community capacity and improving access to hydro-meteorological data, which are key to reducing disaster risks and protecting lives and livelihoods. Young people from Laos and Russia meet at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Vientiane on Wednesday, as part of activities organised by the Russian-Lao Friendship Society. The Russian group is in Laos to study the Lao language and learn about the country’s culture, and also meeting Lao students heading for universities in Russia.
