Mr Somphone said the posters will be given to kindergarten and primary schools in Vientiane, especially those that have insufficient educational materials. The posters are used as teaching aids to help children learn the alphabet. The President of BlueGrass Design Group Co., Ltd., Praseuth Banchongphakdy, said his staff use their specialist knowledge to design, draw and select paper types and printing styles, while uniting craftspeople in creating designs that benefit society. The alphabet posters have been designed to help children learn the Lao language at an early age through the use of bright images that make a strong visual impact and enable children to enjoy the learning process. |
Deputy Director of the Rural Development Department, Ms Veomany Thepphavong, presents certificates to trainees after a 5-day course on compost production and use of agricultural machinery, under a project for rural development in northern and central Laos. The course was attended by participants from the provinces of Xieng Khuang, Borikhamxay, Vientiane and Savannakhet and took place from August 11-16 in Vientiane, supported by the government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Participants learnt how to make compost using weeds and other natural materials so they can cut the cost of manufactured fertiliser for use in their greenhouses. They also learnt how to use machinery to boost vegetable yields. Ms Veomany said the training course would help farmers to earn more income and ease poverty by providing them with more stable jobs. |
