Members of the organising committee give a press conference on Friday to announce the Lao Gold Festival.

Gold Festival to drive growth of Lao industry

The first Lao Gold Festival, scheduled for September 5-7, is expected to spur the growth of the gold industry, aiming to raise standards and create new business opportunities.
The festival will take place at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, with about 30,000 visitors expected.
Chairman of the Lao Gold Festival 2025 Organising Committee and Chief Executive of Lao Bullion Bank Co., Ltd., Dr Chanthone Sitthixay, said the festival will become an annual event to support the growth of the gold industry.

Dr Chanthone said the festival would not just be a gathering of people in the gold industry and related sectors, but an occasion to promote tourism and support the development of Laos.
He added that the festival will create opportunities for Lao people to share in advancing Laos’ sustainable and diverse economic growth.
The event also aims to help the Lao gold industry meet international standards, making Lao gold products more competitive in the global market.
Innovation and creativity will also be central themes. Exhibitions and showcases will highlight new designs and modern production methods, encouraging businesses to adapt to changing consumer demands.
The festival will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, skills development, and the promotion of young talent in the industry.
One of the highlights will be a seminar, where experts will discuss market trends, investment opportunities, and strategies for sustainable industry growth.
Another major attraction will be the launch of the LBB PLUS application, a digital platform that enables online gold trading and investment.
This new technology will make transactions safer, more transparent, and more convenient, while opening up opportunities for wider public participation.
The festival will feature 50 gold exhibitor booths and 15 silk booths, showcasing both traditional and contemporary designs.
A joint gold and silk fashion show will demonstrate the creativity and beauty of Lao craftsmanship, while business networking events will connect entrepreneurs, investors, and international partners.
Organisers hope the Lao Gold Festival will create a foundation for stronger industry growth, while combining economic development with cultural preservation.
They believe the event will position Laos as a rising player in the regional gold market and contribute to long-term socio-economic development.
