Laos’ leading private company signs agreements with Vietnam’s fertiliser manufacturer on agriculture development, distributorship expansion
Lao private company and Vietnamese joint stock company are seeking opportunities for cooperation to develop agriculture in Laos by signing an agreement for importing Vietnamese buffalo head brand fertiliser alongside experimental agricultural projects, and distributing imported fertilisers in the domestic market.

The Phaiboun Trading Import-Export Co Ltd (APT International), under the Phongsavanh Group (PSVG), has agreed to cooperate with Vietnam’s Binh Dien Quang Tri Joint Stock Company for agriculture development through the import of the buffalo head brand fertiliser for a pilot project in Laos.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Vientiane on Friday by the CEO of Phaiboun Trading Import-Export Co Ltd, Ms Onnapha Xayasouk, and the Director of Binh Dien Quang Tri Joint Stock Company, Mr Dong Hoang Hien.
The signing was witnessed by the Vice President of the Lao Front for National Development (LFND), Mr Khamlay Sipaseuth, the Vice Chairwoman of the Major Shareholder Committee of Phongsavanh Group and CEO of Phongsavanh Group, Mrs Sengdao Bouphakonekham, the General Director of Binh Dien Fertiliser Joint Stock Company, Mr Ngo Van Dong, senior members of the management of the company and other guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of Phaiboun Trading Import-Export Co Ltd, Ms Onnapha Xayasouk, said pilot projects has been implemented in the three districts of Outhoumphone, Xaybouly and Champhone of Savannakhet province. During previous rice planting seasons, these projects had showcased impressive outcomes when rice farmers used the buffalo head brand fertiliser.
“Our observation is that the use of this brand has produced impressive results, and the rice farmers harvested a total of five tonnes per hectare, up from three tonnes per hectare in the previous season,” she said.

In addition, the use of this fertiliser for another pilot project for coffee plantation in Champassak province, along with technical advice, soil research and training by experts from the Binh Dien Fertiliser Joint Stock Company, had boosted the quantity of production.
“Through the outstanding achievements, our companies decided to sign this agreement on agricultural development projects across Laos to boost the capacity for rice production alongside technical cooperation, including soil research in each part of Laos to promote the highest outcomes of the project,” Ms Onnapha said.
The General Director of Binh Dien Fertiliser Joint Stock Company, Mr Ngo Van Dong, said, “The main purpose of today’s signing of the agreement is not only to supply the buffalo head brand fertiliser to the Lao market but it is also a means to pass on advanced knowledge of our technology to boost agricultural production by the people of Laos.”
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the long-standing special relations between Laos and Vietnam, and to PSVG for facilitating notable cooperation with the Phaiboun Trading Import-Export Co Ltd.
“This fundamental cooperation will contribute to strengthening the promotion of our bilateral relations in the agricultural sector and enhance the wealth of local farmers,” Mr Dong said.
Representatives from domestic distributors were invited to the ceremony.
