Laos, Japan eye closer cooperation in technology
The Lao and Japanese governments have expressed their intention to bolster cooperation in the field of technology, following the appointment of a new Japanese ambassador to Laos.

Laos’ Minister of Technology and Communications, Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara, warmly welcomed Ambassador Koizumi Tsutomu and his delegation when they met for talks recently.
Prof. Dr Boviengkham conveyed his gratitude for Japan’s continuing cooperation and support to Laos, particularly in areas such as human resource development, with a special focus on technology and communications.
The Minister thanked the Japanese government for its technical and financial assistance to Laos over many years, including support for the development of technology.
The two sides discussed their plans and ongoing cooperation projects, particularly in the communication sector. The talks also centred on the need to attract more Japanese investment in technology in Laos, particularly in the processing industry.
Ambassador Koizumi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the Minister and reaffirmed his commitment to work diligently in his diplomatic mission to further strengthen Laos-Japan relations.
He pledged to promote bilateral cooperation, ensuring it reaches new heights and benefits the people of both nations.
The Lao and Japanese delegations reviewed past cooperation between their two countries and praised the continuing friendship and cooperation between Laos and Japan.
This is reflected in frequent reciprocal visits by leaders from the two countries, strong bilateral cooperation in various areas of development, and mutual support in the regional and global arenas.
