President of the Supreme People´s Prosecutor Office of Laos, Mr Xaysana Khotphouthone, on Monday welcomes the Director General of the Department of International Law and Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Ms Ekaterina Kudelich, to discuss cooperation in the justice sector. Ms Kudelich is paying a working visit to Laos to share in the negotiation of a draft treaty between Laos and Russia that will define regulations on the prevention, investigation and prosecution of crimes. This will ensure stronger law and order and uphold the rights and interests of the Lao and Russian states and citizens.

To mark World Diabetes Day, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on November 22 hosted a health education programme with the support of Luang Prabang provincial Hospital. The programme was attended by volunteers from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who shared in the initiative to support its efforts in raising awareness about diabetes prevention and management while promoting basic health and hygiene practices within the local community. Doctors and nurses from the hospital, along with KOICA volunteers, led workshops on diabetes and basic health education. These sessions emphasised the importance of preventing and managing diabetes effectively and included practical blood glucose testing conducted in collaboration with medical professionals. KOICA and JICA volunteers also joined forces to repaint the ageing walls of the hospital’s old building. This collaborative effort significantly improved the hospital environment, creating a brighter and more welcoming space for patients and visitors alike. The combined efforts of KOICA and JICA volunteers highlight the value of international cooperation in addressing public health issues. By promoting health education and improving medical facilities, the programme contributes to fostering a healthier and more comfortable environment for the residents of Luang Prabang.        --Photo KOICA
