Japan Film Festival
Don’t miss the fun of Japanese movies at the Japan Film Festival, featuring popular Japanese films that are sure to appeal to Lao audiences.
This year, the Japan Foundation is delighted to present eight films. All films will be screened in Japanese with Lao and English subtitles.

Vat Sisaket Museum
Vat Sisaket Museum in Vientiane is famous for its cloister wall housing thousands of tiny Buddha images and rows of hundreds of seated Buddhas. These images mainly date from the 16th and 19th centuries and come in all sizes and are made from wood, stone and bronze.
When: Open daily from 8am-4pm

Hor Phakeo Museum
This ancient temple was first built in 1565 during the reign of King Saysethathirath to house the Emerald Buddha and was the king’s personal place of worship.
When: Open daily 8am-12noon; 1pm-4pm

Lao National Museum
This museum teaches visitors about the history, culture and people of Laos. Exhibits depict the turbulent modern history of Laos from the Siamese invasions and the French colonial period to the American military presence during the Indochina War, and through to the present day. There is a strong emphasis on the struggle for independence and the regime change in 1975, which explains why the museum was originally named the Lao Revolutionary Museum.
When: Open from 8am to 12 and from 1-4pm, seven days a week.

Youth cultural ambassador programme
The China Soong Ching Ling Foundation invites young people aged 10-18 to participate in the 2026 “Junior Cultural Ambassador” event. Under the theme “My Favourite Chinese Festival”, this is a unique opportunity to build bridges of friendship and showcase cultural heritage through digital storytelling.
To enter, film a creative video (maximum 4 minutes) exploring the origins, legends, or regional customs of your favourite Chinese festival. The winners will be titled “Junior Cultural Ambassadors” and may be invited to an all-expenses-paid exchange trip to China.
