China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Wang Yi delivers the opening remarks at an international symposium in Beijing on Tuesday.

China vows to provide more benefits to neighbours through modernisation

Beijing, China: China will continue to promote the development of principles in the new era, hoping that the Chinese style of modernisation will deliver more benefits to its neighbours and contribute to Asia’s modernisation, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said.
The message from President Xi Jinping was delivered at an international symposium to mark the 10th anniversary of the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in China’s neighbourhood diplomacy, which took place in Beijing on Tuesday.
The event was attended by foreign dignitaries, former prime ministers of various Asian countries, and other high-ranking officials from Asean.
The symposium, themed “Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness: New Dimensions, New Progress and New Vision,” was held to mark the 10th anniversary of the principle of China’s neighbourhood diplomacy.
Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the China Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, also Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Wang Yi, read out the President’s message at the symposium.
“China will continue to follow the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and work with other countries in the region to build an Asian homeland of peace, tranquillity, prosperity, beauty and friendly coexistence, to jointly write a new chapter in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for Asia and for humanity,” the president said in his message.
He also stressed that the basic policy of China’s neighbourhood diplomacy is to pursue friendship and partnership with its neighbours, and to build an amicable, secure and prosperous neighbourhood, highlighting the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness.
Over the past 10 years, China has actively practised these principles, and developed friendly and cooperative relations with its neighbours in an all-round way. The two sides have continuously enhanced political mutual trust and deepened their convergence of interests, thus opening up a bright pathway of good-neighbourly friendship and win-win cooperation, President Xi said in his message.
He added that China will lend new meaning to the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, promote the Asian values of peace, cooperation, inclusiveness and integration, and provide new impetus to regional unity, openness and progress in the new era.
“We will promote new development of the concepts of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, so that Chinese modernisation will bring more benefits to our neighbours,” he said, adding that China will work to jointly advance Asia’s modernisation process, and make sure China’s high-quality development and a sound neighbourhood environment will reinforce and complement each other.
Foreign minister Mr Wang said the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in neighbourhood diplomacy has contributed and injected strong impetus into friendly cooperation, unity, and the revitalisation of Asia.
These principles have also provided a reference for building a community with a shared future for humanity, and China has always attached the highest importance to the neighbourhood in its foreign policy over the past decade, he noted.
Mr Wang said China is committed to deepening friendly cooperation with regional countries guided by the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness and contributing more wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future in Asia and for humanity.
The Chinese foreign minister also said China is ready to work with all parties to foster good neighbourliness, friendship and cooperation, expand and enrich the content of China’s principles in neighbourhood diplomacy, and continue to light the road ahead for Asian countries.
