Lao media get first-hand look at China’s tourist attractions

Shanghai, China: A group of 13 media personnel from Laos have been visiting some of China’s top tourist attractions over the past 12 days, taking in the sites of four provinces.
The group all came from agencies under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, namely the Mass Media Department, Lao National Television, Lao National Radio, Lao Public Security Television, Lao News Agency, the Vientiane Times, Paxaxon and Lao Economic

Daily newspapers, and from the departments of Information, Culture and Tourism inXayaboury, Khammuan and Savannakhet provinces.
The visit from October 13-24 took in tourist attractions in the provinces of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui.
These were of cultural and historical interest, along with areas of natural beauty.Many were provincial, national or world heritage sites.
The group was led by the Director of the Mass Regulator Section, Department of Mass Media, Mr ViraphonhSinghavara.
“This visit is very meaningful because it enables us to personally witness and experience the tourist attractions of China so that we can go home and publicise them to audiences in Laos.”
“We will gather information and take photos and videos of each place we visit and then report on them through our various media platforms. In this way people in Laos will learn more about China and its tourist attractions and more people will want to visit the country,” Mr Viraphonh said.
“It’s a good way to share tourism promotion between Laos and China, especially between the responsible sectors of the two countries, as this is Visit Laos-China Year,” he added.
A reporter from the Paxaxon newspaper, Ms Yuphinthong Thepboury, said she was delighted to be one of the group visiting China.
“Just like everyone else, I’m very happy to have this chance to see so many places of interest in Shanghai and other areas. We were given a warm welcome and I have enjoyed the sightseeing immensely,” she added.
“We went to loads of places including the new Shanghai area, the Bund, Shanghai Disneyland Park, old towns and villages, museums, temples, tea tree gardens, markets, and mountains. We also took boat trips on rivers and lakes to get a waterfront view of some of the places we visited.”
“We enjoyed seeing how Shanghai has been modernised and the wayin which society, the economy and infrastructure of China has developed. I was able to learn a lot about the way of life of the Chinese people. I would like to thank the organisers and sponsors of this trip.”
The visit was organised through cooperation between Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and supported by the China Cultural Centre in Laos, Lao Happy International Tourism, and Shanghai Yueke Tourism Group Co.,Ltd.
