More than 6,000 students graduated from the National University of Laos (NUOL) last year.
The job fair is being hosted by the university in cooperation with more than 40 companies. The job fair’s goal is to help students to find work opportunities and provide information on what different organisations require from new graduates.
The opening ceremony of the fair took place on Thursday and was attended by NUOL Vice President, Assoc. Professor Ms Somchanh Bounphanmy, Head of Commercial Development at the Lao Telecommunication Public Company, Mr Thanhsamay Xamountry, and a large number of teachers and students.
Ms Somchanh said the job fair aims to help students be aware of the qualities they need to nurture in order to be employed in particular sectors and industries. It is also an opportunity for networking and building relationships with industry professionals.
The university endeavours to educate its students so that they will be job ready with the appropriate skills upon graduation, she added.
During the opening ceremony, the Lao Telecommunication Public Company presented scholarships worth about 50 million kip to 25 students from 24 faculties of the university. This is the 10th year that the company has supported students with scholarships.
The NUOL has been organising the job fair since 2011 and this year marks the ninth edition.
Many students are currently preparing for end-of-year exams. The job fair has information and opportunities that are relevant to students and graduates of all ages.
