- PM: Railway will benefit economy, development
Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith has told a regional meeting in Japan that the Laos-China railway, which is part of the China-led Belt and Road Initiative, will greatly benefit Laos’ economy and overall development, Japan’s Nikkei reported yesterday.

- Germany lends bite to Lao dentistry 
The Trinon Collegium Practicum of Germany is providing about US$1 million (more than 8 billion kip) to Laos from 2018 to 2021 to improve dental health services.
 A signing ceremony for Phase 3 of the dental upgrade project took place in Vientiane on Monday.

- Laos, WWF extend rattan, bamboo harvesting cooperation 
The Lao government and World Wide Fund for Nature in Laos have agreed to implement Phase 5 of the Sustainable Rattan-Bamboo Harvesting and Production project.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the project was signed on Monday at the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) in Vientiane.

Lao, Thai provincial talks aim to prevent human trafficking
Officials from Champassak province, Laos, and Ubon Ratchathani province in Thailand are continuing cooperation to protect women and child workers from the illegal sex trade and human trafficking. They met in Ubon Ratchathani province recently to share their experiences and various skills in dealing with human trafficking in border areas of the neighbouring provinces, according to the Champamai newspaper. Meeting participants advised the state and private sectors to publicise the dangers of human trafficking and help prevent the trade among women seeking employment in other countries.
