Chinese military donates medical supplies to Lao army
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army under China’s Ministry of National Defence has provided medical supplies to the Lao People’s Army to support the response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
A Chinese military aircraft delivered the supplies to Wattay International Airport on Tuesday, with the shipment including ventilators, monitors and other equipment for use by the Lao People’s Army.

Officials from the Military Attache at the Chinese Embassy in Laos, Chinese Embassy officials and officials from Laos’ Ministry of National Defence were present at the airport to receive the supplies, which were provided under a Covid-19 response grant from China.
The shipment also included 403,200 rapid Covid-19 test kits, 30,000 diagnostic kits, 30,000 DNA analysis kits, PCR testing equipment, oxygen concentrators and ventilators, as well as protective clothing and other essential equipment.
The supplies were received by Minister of National Defence, General Chansamone Chanyalath.
Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the Military Attache at the Chinese Embassy said China sincerely thanked Laos for its valuable support and assistance in China’s fight against Covid-19.
In response, a Chinese air force plane had delivered three batches of medical supplies for use by the Lao People’s Army, he said.
“We believe that the joint efforts of our two armies, as an important part of our countries’ joint efforts to fight the epidemic, will contribute to the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future,” he added.
General Chansamone Chanyalath, speaking on behalf of the Lao government and people, expressed gratitude to the government and people of China for aid previously provided.
For the past several months, the Chinese military has provided medical supplies and medical experts to help Laos respond to the Covid-19 outbreak.
In April, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army sent 300,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to Laos, followed by another 400,000 doses which arrived in August.
