Huawei fully supported Laos-China railway launch, received appreciation from the President of Laos

The President of China, Mr Xi Jinping,held a video conference with the President of Laos, Mr Thongloun Sisoulith,on December 3, to celebrate and witness the opening of the Laos-ChinaRailway, which is a historic project for Laos and the overall Indochina Peninsula.

From Kunming, China, to Vientiane Capital in Laos, the Laos-China Railway is over 1,035 kilometres long andwill serve to strongly promote personnel and commodity exchanges and comprehensive cooperation in various fields of the region.

Travel between Kunming and Vientiane can now be achieved in the same day after the grand opening of the Laos-China Railway. The railway will become an important part of the north-south arteryof the Indochinese Peninsula, facilitating trade and travel between the two countries and strengthening the bonds between the peoples of China and Laos.

This is the first railway artery in Laos, transforming it from a "landlocked” to a"land-linked” country and will inject strong confidence and impetus into regional development.

The digital infrastructure along the railway is also essential and significant for theoperation of a modern railway. Huawei is working with Lao Telecom operatorstoinstallmobile

broadband coverage along the railway, and provided the 5G connection for the greenfield Vientiane station, which also facilitated the grand opening ceremony of the railway.

The presidents of China and Laos witnessed the grand opening ceremony remotely, which waspowered through a HUAWEI CLOUD meeting. After the ceremony, the Lao President, Mr Thongloun Sisoulith, voiced hisappreciation to the Huawei team for their great efforts in making the openingceremony a success. The Presidentstated that Huawei is a reliable and trustworthy company.
